Charles L. Brown

Charles L. Brown, 83 of Streator passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023 at Heritage Health, Streator.

He was born October 7 ,1939 in Xenia, IL a son of Denny and Daisy (Woodward) Brown.  He married Joyce Breymeyer on December 18, 1965 in Cissna Park.  She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Kevin Brown of Japan and Kory (Shanna Ramsey) of Morris; two grandsons, Isaac and Maxx; a brother, James Brown of Xenia; a sister, Ileen Young of Summersville, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Jerry, Dale and Kenneth.

Charles received his BS in Education from SIU at Carbondale, and his MS in Education from EIU in Charleston.  He worked as an Art Teacher for over 35 years, first at the Junior High School in Roodhouse, IL and then at Streator High School.  He was a member of the High School Art Club and Student Council Advisor.

Charles enjoyed the outdoors.  He spent much time camping and fishing at Olney, IL after retirement.  He was a member of the Vermillion Boat Club and the Streator Eagles Club.

Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 3, 2023 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Streator.  Pastor William Callister will officiate.  Pallbearers will be Fred Volkman, Ken Volkman, Frank Volkman, Ron “Wally” Wahl, John Coley, and Duane Kruger.  A visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday prior to services.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.  Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s, St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
