Cathy A. Diehl

Cathy A. Diehl, 73 of Ancona, went to be in the arms of her husband of over 50 years on Sunday, June 21, 2026 at Lightways Hospice in Joliet.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 26, 2026 at Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator, with Pastor Rodney Kreier officiating. Burial will follow in Wolf Creek Cemetery, rural Streator. Pallbearers will be Andy Schultz, Jason Schultz, Joe Schultz, Jeremiah Schultz, Tyler Ryan, Jayden Phillips, Seth Schultz and Noah Schultz. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home and from 10:00 to 11:00 Friday prior to services.

Cathy was born June 23, 1952 in Aurora, a daughter of George R. and Nancy J. (Heinke) Schultz Sr. She married Barry “BGD” G. Diehl on January 1, 1972 in Naperville. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2018.

She is survived by a son, William “Bill” Diehl of Ancona; and two brothers, George R. “Skip” (Alice) Schultz Jr. of Sheridan and Harvey G. (Cindy) Schultz of Sandwich. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Carol Hutchison.

Cathy was a very artistic person. She could be found sewing, baking, doing woodworking or painting. She was well known for making Memory Bears from clothing of people who had passed away.
