Catherine "Genette" Hansen

Catherine “Genette” Hansen, 88 of Streator passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, February 23, 2026 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Streator. Pastor William Callister will officiate. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator. Serving as pallbearers will be John Hansen, Nolan Hansen, Mason Kling, Dylan Kling, Ashton Kling, Daxton Carter and Derek Carter. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 AM Monday at the church. Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.

Catherine “Genette” was born November 3, 1937 in Fairbury, a daughter of Ancel and Ople (Ferguson) Sapp. She married Glenn “Barney” Hansen Sr. on April 28, 1957 in Odell. He preceded her in death on December 4, 2013.

Surviving are three daughters, Pamela Kress of Streator, Kimberly (Diana) Hansen-Wilson of Erwin, NC, and Cherie (Richard) Kling of Ransom; one son, Rick (Lisa) Hansen of Pontiac; seven grandchildren, John Hansen, Tonya (Derek) Carter, Kathleen Staton, Julia Norton, Mason (Allison) Kling, Dylan (Trisha) Kling, and Ashton Kling; six great grandchildren, Nolan Hansen, Mara Hansen, Daxton Carter, Makayla (Josh) Deland, Isabella Staton, and Benjamin Kling; and three great great grandchildren, Layton, Haisley and Adalee Deland. Also surviving is a sister, Karen Devito of Triangle, VA; and a brother, Ronald Sapp of Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Genette was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Streator. She was a member of the Thatcher’s Auxiliary and had been on the resident council at the Arc of Streator.

Genette was a seamstress and had sewn wedding dresses for many women. She enjoyed baking cakes, canning and loved to cook for the “whole” family at all the holidays. Most of all, she loved her family and cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always ready for an adventure.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Arc of Streator for the care and compassion they have shown their mother and grandmother.
