Carol Gerth

Carol Ann Gerth, 84 of Streator passed away Friday morning (April 8, 2016) at her residence.
There will be a celebration of her life on Monday, April 11, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Streator.  A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 AM at the church with a visitation from 10:00 to 10:30 AM.  A private graveside service will be later Tuesday at Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Streator Public Library, Camp Lebanon, Burtrum, MN or to Oil Lamp Theatre, Glenview, IL.
Hagi Funeral Home, Streator is assisting the family with arrangements.
Carol was born March 7, 1932 in Bloomington, the daughter of Martin and Stella Sablotzke Flachsbart.  She married Herb W. Gerth on July 28, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomington.  Herb’s uncle Herman Hohenstein officiated the service.
She is survived by her husband Herb; four sons, Phillip (Janice) Gerth of Upsala, MN, James (Karen) Gerth of Green Bay, WI; Tim Gerth of Streator and Keith (Carole) Gerth of Northbrook; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.  Also surviving is a sister, Dorothy (Delbert) Cortright of St. Petersburg, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Martin Flachsbart.
Carol was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Streator where she also worked as an administrative assistant for over 19 years.
