Billy J. Arnold, 90 of Streator passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at St. Margaret’s Hospital, Peru.

 

A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation and interment with military rites will be at a later date in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

 

Bill was born February 24, 1932 in Knifley, KY, a son of Walter C. and Lillie M. (Harden) Arnold.  He married Alice M. Babcock on January 29, 1954 in Marseilles.  She preceded him in death on November 30, 2016.

 

Surviving are children, Deana (Mike) Puckett of Streator and William (Sherry) Arnold of Arkansas; four grandchildren, Rachel (Vince Contreras) Puckett of Streator, Katy (Jason) Meade of Ohio, Tammy Reeves of Missouri, and Russell Arnold of Arkansas; three great grandchildren, Constance, Lilly and Silver Reeves; a sister, Kathleen Compbest of Florida; and his beloved dog, Lucy.

 

He was also preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Russell, Winfrey, James and Brad; and three sisters, Hallie Feese, Rachel Ferguson, and Louise Corbin.

 

Bill worked at Owens-Illinois Glass for 37 years until his retirement.  Upon retirement, Bill and Alice spent their time traveling in their RV, spending winters in Arizona.  They also enjoyed fishing with friends in Canada and Branson, MO.  Both were avid golfers and enjoyed golfing wherever they went. 

 

Bill was a Veteran, serving in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and received the Purple Heart.  He was very proud of his service.  He was on the Honor Flight to Washington DC on October 3, 2013.

 

Memorials may be directed to Honor Flight or a charity of the donor’s choice.  Condolences may be left for the family and obituary viewed at www.hagischultzfh.com
