Alvaro Perez Sr.

Alvaro Perez Sr., 91 of Streator passed away Thursday February 17, 2022 at St. Margaret’s Health – Peru.

Funeral Services will be 12:00 Noon Monday, February 21, 2022 at Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator.  Pastor Rodney Kreier officiating.  Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator.  Pallbearers will be grandsons, Al Perez III, Tony Perez, Gabe Perez Sr., Juan Albarran, Misael Albarran, Jake Perez, and great grandson, Gabe Perez Jr..  Honorary Pallbearers will be Joseph Perez, Damien Crawford, Justin Crawford, Max Fraga, Jr., and Noah Perez.  A visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of service 12:00 Noon at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family to be donated to Alvaro’s favorite charities.

Alvaro was born January 9, 1931 in Cotulla, Texas, a son of Mauro and Herlinda (Garza) Perez.  He married Magdalena Hernandez in February 1955 in Texas.  She preceded him in death on July 9, 2006.

Surviving are his children, Alvaro (Karen) Perez Jr. and Maria Herlinda Perez both of Streator, and Carlos (Vicki) Perez of Ottawa; his stepchildren, Severa (Max) Fraga of Streator and Luis (Eudelia) Aguilar of Laredo, TX; 16 grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Magdalena; stepchildren, Marta Salaz, Manuel Aguilar, Santiago Aguilar, Angela Reyes, Juan Aguilar, and Phillip Reynero Sr; a grandson, Phillip Reynero Jr.; a great granddaughter, Angel Perez; five brothers, Tomas, Mauro, Rodolfo, Jesus and Jose Perez; and four sisters, Hortencia, Maria, Guadalupe and Francisca.

Alvaro grew up in Texas and was a Ranch Hand in his younger years.  He later worked for and retired from Owens Illinois Glass.

Alvaro would always have a smile on his face.  He was loved by everyone who would meet him.
