Alba Reihl

STREATOR-  Alba C. Reihl 88 of Streator died Monday afternoon (May 26, 2014) at Heritage Health, Streator.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday  June 11, 2014 at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator with Sister Laura Northcraft, and her niece Kathy Hawthorne, officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:30 AM Wednesday at Hagi Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Streator.
Mrs. Reihl was born Dec. 12, 1925 in Streator the daughter of Bert and Agnes (Hamilton) Barickman. She married Francis “Sanny” Reihl Jr., Sept. 3, 1949 at St. Anthony’s Church. He preceded her in death Mar. 29, 2013.
Alba had been employed as a Registered Nurse for many years, starting her career at St. Francis Hospital, Peoria from 1947-1949 in the OB department. She moved back to Streator in 1949 and worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in the OB department and was also a Visiting Nurse and later retired from the offices of Dr’s Powers and Gottemoller in 1992.
She was a member of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church, Streator and the US Cadet Nurse Corp. She was a graduate of St. Anthony’s grade school, Streator High School, class of 1944 and St. Francis School of Nursing in 1947.
She is survived by one daughter, Martha “Marti” (Jeff) Highsmith, Streator, two grandchildren, Catherine (Joseph) Tupayachi, Streator and Zachery (Megan) Highsmith, Langley AFB, Hampton VA, two great granddaughters, Liliana and Milania Highsmith, one sister, Julia Donaldson, Toledo OH, one brother, John “Jack” Barickman, Streator, one sister-in-law, Theresa Barickman, Streator and one brother-in-law, Vince Reihl, Streator.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Dan and Bert Barickman, sisters-in-law, Pauline Barickman, Mary Barickman, Magdalene Maubach and Mary Margaret Reihl, brothers-in-law, George and Harold Reihl.
