Stephen Selvidge

Stephen Timothy Gary Selvidge passed from this life at 36 years of age on a most frigid Tuesday, January 29th, 2019.  He was born on the most beautiful of bright spring days on the 24th of April, 1982.   A lifelong resident of Streator, he was employed at Flink Co.

Steve was a good man, a great father who loved his children dearly, a fine son, a brother, a good friend, and a charitable Master Mason.  He was proud of all those roles. He enjoyed activities with family: get-togethers at special times or holidays, trekking with his children on walks and hikes in the woods and hills in the surrounding area, teaching board games to the kids on lazy Sunday afternoons, and short trips away.  Steve especially had an intense interest in gaming in Dungeons and Dragons at an early age and played avidly from that time for the rest of his life, heading a group of players here in Streator for many years.

He is survived by his parents, Vickey O’Neal Woodward and James Woodward; his brother, Dan Selvidge and sister-in-law, Cecelia; and niece and nephews, Michelle, William and Dominick.  His children - Lilith, Freya, Logan and Angel - are his dearest blessings. He is further survived by his former partner of many years, Cassandra Libby, mother of his children, and his present partner, Hope Somes.  His biological father, Gary A. Selvidge, as well as an infant brother, David Selvidge, and younger sister, Michelle O’Neal Woodward, have gone before Stephen.

Memorials may be directed for his children.  Stephen was such a happy, wonderful child. He desired to live an upright, happy life, and his greatest legacy will be his effort to meet that road.  If you have a family member or friend that you know is struggling with sadness or depression, please reach out your hand in kindness and love.

A visitation will be held from 1-3 PM Sunday at the Hagi & Baker Funeral Home.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation.
